Movie Weekend

We had a pretty fun weekend. I am absolutely loving having a three day weekend each week. Thursday we went to the Gateway with my Mom to buy her a new iPhone. We had so much fun spending time with "Faye," as Jaxon calls her. We went to Skybox for lunch and Amy says that she had the best salad that she has ever had there, while I say I had the best raspberry lemonade. I watched "Rounders," thumbs down, and Amy watched the Women's Gymnastics.
Friday was a movie day, Stuart and I took Jaxon to his first Star Wars movie "The Clone Wars." Jaxon was very good and sat through the entire film. He did spend about five minutes smashing Stuart's spilt chips into a million little pieces. Overall the movie was just sub-par, a little long for a kids show. The best thing to come from the movie is Jaxon can now tell us that Yoda was in the movie. We went to my parents for dinner and they ordered Indian food. It was really good, it had been a really long time since I last had it. We played a quick game of salad bowl and then came home to put the kids to bed. Stuart and his brother T came up and wanted to go and see "Tropic Thunder." With Amy's permission I went and saw my second show of the day. It was actually pretty funny though a little on the crude side. On our way out T almost got us into a fight. You reach a certain age where you really feel like you will never get into a fist fight if you haven't been in one before and last night I thought it was all going to happen.
Saturday was a little lazier of a day, spent most of the day setting our network up again. We went out in the backyard and just spent time hanging out and enjoying the beautiful weather. We came in and watched another movie "In the Shadow of the Moon" and it was fantastic. It was about the people who landed on the moon. Most of the clips were being shown for the first time. Now we are watching the third season of "Lost." We have been looking forward to it for quite some time!

The start of baseball

This really is the best time of year for me. Now before I tell you why I have to say, its kind of sad. I realized that I'm kind of a big geek this weekend. Never a realization you want to come to at age 26. I've gone through most of my life thinking I was pretty cool and then one five hour fantasy baseball draft and about six hours of PS3 playing I finally decided, yep I'm a nerd. So, it was kind of a weekend that Amy hates being married to a sports fan I'm sure. My time has been split between the aforementioned draft and watching about any other sports related show on television. As we speak I am watching a thrilling game between the Nationals and the Braves.
Lets just some this up in the fact that I love Baseball, the Jazz, and three weeks of NCAA basketball. Add them all up with a wonderful dinner with friends and its a great week! So despite the depression that has set in from learning I'm a tremendous nerd, sports and video games has lifted my spirits!

Good Friday

This year is the first year I have been introduced to the idea of Good Friday, I am now a huge fan. A paid holiday in the middle of March, or April depending on the lunar calendar, to go do whatever you like, I'm in! We chose to go bowling and later had a family dinner. We invited my parents to go bowling in the morning, they declined because they were going ice skating later. We had a wonderful time bowling, Jaxon even managed to get two strikes and outscore his Mom. Although, this feet can be accomplished by anybody that has an arm and sight in at least one eye. Later in the day we ran into our brother-in-law Justin, he asked us if we were going bowling later in the day with the family. My family had decided instead of Ice Skating to go bowling, without us. Let me translate this for you. Essentially my parents were saying "we like your ideas, we just don't care for you!"

That night we went for our annual family business dinner. I got to choose the locale for the meeting and decided on Charlie Chow's Dragon Grill. I highly recommend this well kept Salt Lake secret. It is all you can eat, Mongolian barbecue, need I say more. Maybe just a bit more, its reasonably priced. When we got to the point where the business meeting portion was about to happen, a domestic disturbance started somewhere within proximity to the eating establishment. We wouldn't have noticed except for the two police officers eating at Charlie Chow's went bolting out the back door, which we were sitting by. However, this didn't detour the meeting which continued without missing a beat. Finally they at least locked the back door, which you would think would make you feel safer. This was true up to the point where people were banging on it to get in. At last those still listening to the meeting finally realized that it was time to leave. We ended up in the friendly confines of Spoon Me, safe at last!
